Kling 4.0 vs Vidu Q4: Which AI Video Model Should You Use? (2026)

Oct 23, 2026

Two new flagship video models landed within days of each other, and they are not interchangeable. Kling 4.0 is the flexible one: it takes text, a single photo, or a start and end frame. Vidu Q4 only wants an image, but it will push that image up to 4K with sound baked in.

We run both on Domer, so this comparison comes down to specifics: what each model accepts, how long a clip it makes, what resolution you actually get, and what it costs per second in credits. No benchmark theater, just the configuration differences that should decide which tab you open.

The short answer

Pick Kling 4.0 if you are starting from an idea or need start/end frame control. Pick Vidu Q4 if you are starting from a photo and want the highest possible resolution with native audio. If you want cheap drafts, neither: Kling 2.6 or Seedance 2.0 Mini still cost a fraction of either flagship.

Where each model comes from

Kling 4.0 is Kuaishou's newest release, served through WaveSpeed on Domer. It replaces Kling 3.0 at the top of the Kling line and raises the ceiling from 15 seconds to 30, with 1080p output and native sound.

Vidu Q4 is Vidu's flagship, served through KIE. Its headline numbers are a 4K ceiling and audio generated alongside the video rather than bolted on afterwards. It shipped here on October 20, two days before Kling 4.0.

Input modes: this is the real split

Kling 4.0 accepts three ways in:

  • Text to video, no assets needed
  • Image to video with a single first frame
  • First and last frame, so you can control where the shot lands

Vidu Q4 accepts exactly one: image to video. There is no text-to-video endpoint at all. You bring a photo, the video inherits its aspect ratio, and the model animates from there.

That single difference decides most use cases on its own. Storyboarding from a prompt, doing shot-reverse-shot with matched endpoints, anything script-first: Kling 4.0. You have a product photo, a portrait, a landscape: Vidu Q4 starts closer to a finished result because the composition is already yours.

Resolution and duration

Kling 4.0 Vidu Q4
Input modes Text, image, first+last frame Image only
Resolutions 720p, 1080p 540p, 720p, 1080p, 2K, 4K
Duration 3–30 seconds, any second 3–16 seconds, any second
Aspect ratio 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 21:9 Follows the input image
Native audio Yes Yes, on by default

Kling 4.0 goes longer, 30 seconds against Vidu's 16, and both expose per-second control rather than fixed 5/10-second buckets. Vidu goes bigger on resolution. Nothing else in our video catalog reaches 4K today, and 2K is only available on Vidu and MiniMax H3.

One nuance worth knowing before you upload: Vidu's 4K looks best from a sharp source image. A 600-pixel-wide input upscaled to 4K is not going to conjure detail; feed it something at or above 1080p and the difference is visible.

What they cost in credits

Both are per-second models, so the math is rate times seconds.

Kling 4.0 Vidu Q4
720p 36 credits/s 18 credits/s
1080p 53 credits/s 24 credits/s
2K — 36 credits/s
4K — 73 credits/s
Default 5-second clip 180 (720p) 90 (720p)

A few practical reads on that table:

  • At the same 720p/5s setting, Vidu Q4 costs half of Kling 4.0 (90 vs 180 credits). Half the duration ceiling too, if you need a 20-second take.
  • A 16-second Vidu clip at 720p runs 288 credits. A 16-second Kling at 720p runs 576. For long, same-resolution output Kling is simply the pricier tool right now.
  • 4K is Vidu-only. A 5-second 4K clip is 365 credits; the same length at 1080p is 120, so upscale appetite is the single biggest cost lever.

Credits come from plans or pay-as-you-go packs; the pricing page shows what a credit works out to at each tier. New accounts start with 10 free credits, which cover the standard-tier models; both of these flagships are premium-tier and need a paid plan or credit pack.

Audio and motion quality

Both generate audio natively, so speech, ambience, and effects arrive in the same file as the picture. Kling 4.0's audio tends to follow the scene you describe in the prompt. Vidu Q4 defaults audio to on and generates it alongside frames, which makes its 4K output genuinely self-contained: one file, no post.

On motion: Kling 4.0 is the more directive tool, since prompt and frames both steer it. Vidu Q4 leans on the still image and adds measured movement, which suits portraits, products, and scenery where you do not want the composition to drift.

Honest caveat: these are early days for both. Quality varies by shot type more than by brand. Test the same photo through both before committing credits to a batch.

Which one for which job

  • Prompt-only drafts, talking scenes, 20–30 second takes: Kling 4.0 at 720p
  • First and last frame control: Kling 4.0, no alternative in this pair
  • Portrait or product photo, maximum sharpness: Vidu Q4 at 2K or 4K
  • Cheapest flag look per second: Vidu Q4 at 720p (18 credits/s)
  • Vertical social clips from a still: Vidu Q4, since the crop follows your image exactly

And if the flagship rates sting, the older models are still here. Kling 3.0 runs 30 credits/s in standard mode, Kling 2.6 is 100 credits for a 5-second clip, and Seedance 2.0 Mini starts at 8 credits total.

FAQ

Does Vidu Q4 support text-to-video?

No. Vidu Q4 on Domer is image-to-video only, so a prompt alone will not start a generation. If you want prompt-only, use Kling 4.0 or any of the text-to-video models in the video generator.

Which model is cheaper, Kling 4.0 or Vidu Q4?

Vidu Q4, at matching resolutions. 720p is 18 credits per second against Kling 4.0's 36, and 1080p is 24 against 53. Kling's advantage is duration and input flexibility, not price.

Can Kling 4.0 do 4K?

Not today. Kling 4.0 tops out at 1080p. If 4K is the requirement, Vidu Q4 is the only current option on Domer.

How long can each model generate?

Kling 4.0 runs 3 to 30 seconds. Vidu Q4 runs 3 to 16 seconds. Both are per-second, so you pick the exact length instead of rounding up.

Do both models generate sound?

Yes. Kling 4.0 and Vidu Q4 both produce native audio. Vidu has it enabled by default, and Kling 4.0 generates sound automatically with no toggle needed.

Try both without a subscription

Kling 4.0 lives in the text-to-video and image-to-video generators, including the start/end frame mode. Vidu Q4 is in the image-to-video tool with 4K exposed on the resolution picker. Both are premium-tier models, so a paid plan or credit pack covers them; see pricing for current rates.
